EUROMED Invest is one of the main European programs aiming at developing private investments and economic relations in the Euro-Mediterranean area. Its objective is to renew the interest of SMEs in the Euro-Mediterranean market, increase investment and business projects flow, and ensure that the EU regains its leading position as source of foreign direct investment in these countries.

The ultimate goal of EUROMED Invest is to boost private business and investment within the Euro-Med area to contribute to an inclusive economic development of the region. The specific objective of the project is to empower Euro-Med business and investment networks to implement targeted strategies supporting the creation and the international development of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises in order to boost private business and investment within the Euro-Med area.
EUROMED Invest targets the most promising sectors for job creation and economic spillovers to contribute to an inclusive economic development of the region. Such sectors are: Agrifood, transport & logistics, cultural & creative industries, water & green energies and tourism.
In these fields, Southern countries have a strong potential in terms of resources (renewable energies, agrifood) or specific assets (tourism, 30% of global container traffic in the Mediterranean, etc.), as well as important challenges to undertake (agrifood dependence, shortages and bad management of water resources, urban development, sustainable tourism, etc.).
Beneficiaries
The final beneficiares are the 40 million MSMEs, as well as new and young entrepreneurs from the European Union and the 10 South Mediterranean countries of the European Neighbourhood instrument.
The 2007-2013 ENPI CBC Mediterranean Sea Basin Programme is a multilateral Cross-Border Cooperation initiative funded by the European Neighborhood and Partnership Instrument (ENPI). The Programme objective is to promote the sustainable and harmonious cooperation process at the Mediterranean Basin level by dealing with the common challenges and enhancing its endogenous potential
The operations will include networking events (business meetings, workshops, conferences), management support operations (mentorship missions), trainings (workshops and master classes) and documents (guides, economic intelligence, studies, etc.). In order to maximize its impact, the programme has selected a certain number of niches with a high potential, as well as interdisciplinary fields such as women entrepreneur networks, Diaspora networks, supporting the Micro, Small and Medium sized Enterprises, etc.
From December 2013 to December 2016, a hundred of field operations will associate the main economic actors of the 28 member states of the European Union and their partners in the South.
EUROMED Invest has a €5 million budget, 80% of which is financed by the European Union and 20% by the MedAlliance Consortium, the Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur Region and the City of Marseilles.
