Project brief
MEDGENERATION aims at making a "New Deal" between the talents of the Diaspora and their country of origin, developing strategies and most effective attractiveness services, ensuring employment and economic benefits for associated territories, developing an entrepreneurial culture and economic openness to the international level, and involving a community of actors at the service of economic development.

Objectives
- General objective
Initiate and establish the conditions for a sustainable contribution of talent Mediterranean Diaspora to an integral economic development of their countries of origin.
- Specific objective
Encourage and support investment and entrepreneurial success stories in the south by mobilizing talents expatriates and Mediterranean Diaspora. Engage local and national authorities in the implementation of attractive mechanisms and policies targeting this specific population.
Duration and Budget
Project activities will be deployed over a 24-month period from January 2014 to December 2015. Its total budget is €1.926.958,13 and it is financed 90% by the European Union through the European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument. The ENPI CBC Med Programme aims at reinforcing cooperation between the European Union and partner countries placed along the shores of the Mediterranean Sea.

The 2007-2013 ENPI CBC Mediterranean Sea Basin Programme is a multilateral Cross-Border Cooperation initiative funded by the European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument (ENPI). The Programme objective is to promote the sustainable and harmonious cooperation process at the Mediterranean Basin level by dealing with the common challenges and enhancing its endogenous potential. It finances cooperation projects as a contribution to the economic, social, environmental and cultural development of the Mediterranean region. The following 14 countries participate in the Programme: Cyprus, Egypt, France, Greece, Israel, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Malta, Palestine, Portugal, Spain, Syria (participation currently suspended), Tunisia. The Joint Managing Authority (JMA) is the Autonomous Region of Sardinia (Italy). Official Programme languages are Arabic, English and French (www.enpicbcmed.eu).

Activities
- Policy support seminars in favour of economic Mediterranean diasporas recruitment
- Short lobbying and "direct dialogue" missions between the leaders of the Diaspora and representatives of the governments of the pilot countries
- Country studies and territorial action plans for better recruitment of economic Diaspora
- Study tours, recovery of territories and networking
- Sourcing and support of 30 project holders in pilot areas
- Selection and management of a network of MedGeneration coaches / trainers, which consists of specialised talents in the Diaspora on entrepreneurial topics
- Organisation of 3 entrepreneurship Master classes for the benefit of students and young entrepreneurs living in the pilot territories with follow-up and mentoring
