The Chamber of Beirut and Mount Lebanon participated in UfM/ETF Conference on the Future of Work and Skills in the Euro-Mediterranean region
Mr. Rabih Sabra, Director General of the Chamber of Beirut & Mount Lebanon, took part in the conference held in Torino on 25 November about “Skills for the future: the future of work and skills in the Euro-Mediterranean region”.
The conference was co-organized by the Secretariat of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) and the European Training Foundation (ETF) and brought together over 50 stakeholders and active actors from regional and international organizations, business support organizations, the private sector, the civil society, and academia from both shores of the Euro-Mediterranean Region. Participants exchange views and experiences, share best practices and lessons learned, and present policy recommendations and ideas for developing pertinent policies and projects to unleash the full potential of these sectors and to develop specific skill-sets.
Mr. Sabra focused in his pitch on the importance of monitoring labour market needs and how these needs can be identified. He presented the employers survey in manufacturing sector implemented in Lebanon which was a very useful example to the other participants.
The UfM presented the Med4Jobs flagship initiative and stressed that “this event is only a first step towards consolidating a concrete partnership with ETF as we pursue our common ambition of equipping generation after generation with the necessary skills for the future labour landscape.
