UfM Sustainable Supply Chains Workshop in Cairo
Organized by the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) and the German Development Cooperation(GIZ), the pivotal workshop on sustainable supply chains was held on July 9-10, 2024, in Cairo within the objective to highlight the value of supply chain in defining sustainable economic activities.
Mr. Rabih Sabra, Director General of the Chamber of Beirut and Mount Lebanon, participated in this workshop, which brought together a broad spectrum of actors, partners, and stakeholders from both shores of the Mediterranean region. Mr. Sabra shared valuable insights on the contributions of the Chambers and the private sector in implementing novel EU sustainability regulations. Key topics covered included sustainability regulations on deforestation (EUDR), carbon border adjustment (CBAM), due diligence (CSDDD), and finance and disclosure (CSRD).The workshop provided an extremely informative platform for discussing the integration of sustainable practices into supply chains, reinforcing the commitment of the Mediterranean region to environmental sustainability and economic growth.
