YEP MED JOB FAIR 

ORGANIZED BY THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, INDUSTRY &amp; AGRICULTURE OF BEIRUT AND MOUNT LEBANON 

DEADLINE TO REGISTER 12 June 2023

Within the framework of the EU funded project YEP MED, The Chamber of Beirut and Mount Lebanon, a key partner in this project, is organizing 4 Job Fairs which will be held for 1 day in each of the following Lebanese regions: Beirut (22 June, 2023 at Gefinor Rotana Hamra), Saida, Tripoli and Zahl&eacute;. The Job Fair venues in each region will be communicated shortly.

Lebanese companies from all sectors are invited to express their interest in getting a FREE OF CHARGE booth space in at least one of the above Job Fairs to meet with potential skilled candidates, namely the Lebanese trainee&rsquo;s graduates of YEP MED port logistics international training program. Interested companies are welcome to set up a branded space with portable pull up banner and relevant marketing tools and publications.

الهيئات الإقتصادية تناقش مع وفد من البنك الدولي

خارطة الطريق لتطوير الموانئ اللبنانية

عقدت الهيئات الإقتصادية برئاسة الوزير السابق محمد شقير إجتماعاً اليوم في مقر غرفة بيروت وجبل لبنان مع وفد من البنك الدولي، ضم الوفد خبيرة في مجال النقل ميرا مراد، أخصائية في مجال النقل غايل سماحة، الخبير الاقتصادي كلود بايساك، ممثلين عن شركة رفيق خوري وشركاه رامي خوري وساندي البسبي.

بداية رحب شقير بالوفد، منوهاً بالجهود التي يبذلها البنك الدولي لمساعدة لبنان في تخطي أزمته الاقتصادية والاجتماعية، وكذلك في وضع خطط وبرامج لتطوير قطاعاته ومرافقه الإقتصادية، ومنها خارطة الطريق لتطوير الموانئ اللبنانية.

وأكد شقير في هذا الإطار، على ضرورة ان يكون هناك استراتيجة واضحة وبعيدة المدى للنقل البحري في لبنان إنطلاقاً من دور لبنان المحوري في هذه العمليات ومن موقعه الجغرافي الهام. كما أكد في الوقت نفسه على ضرورة الإسراع في عمليات إعادة إعمار وتطوير مرفأ بيروت بما يستجيب لحاجات لبنان وبيروت والقطاع الخاص اللبناني وكذلك دور المرفأ الكبير في النشاط الإقتصادي وعمليات النقل البحري والترانزيت البحري، معولاً على التعاون بين القطاع الخاص والبنك الدولي لإنجاز هذا المخطط.

من جهته، عرض وفد البنك الدولي مشروع توصيات حول رؤية والمخطط التوجيهي لمرفأ بيروت المستقبلي. وأكد الوفد أن هذا الاجتماع يشكل فرصة هامة جدا لتبادل الآراء حول الأفكار والخيارات الممكنة لتطوير وإعادة اعمار مرفأ بيروت، وكذلك لتشجيع القطاع الخاص على المشاركة في هذه العملية، لضمان لعب المرفأ دورا مركزياً في عملية التعافي والنهوض للبنان.

وتم الإتفاق على عقد لقاءات مع القطاع الخاص ومع الأطراف المعنية لمتابعة هذا الموضوع.

TECHLOG Unveils Innovative Living Labs with Cutting-Edge Simulation at Barcelona SIL - International Logistics Conference

The Barcelona SIL - International Logistics Conference (Salon Internacional de Log&iacute;stica) - is set to commence as the summer months begin, providing an unparalleled platform for industry professionals. From June 7th to 9th, the 25th edition of this esteemed international event will be held, offering TECHLOG a unique opportunity to showcase the groundbreaking Living Labs it has supported over the past year.

Recognized as the largest international gathering of the logistics industry, this year&#39;s Barcelona SIL will be even more remarkable as it hosts four major international congresses concurrently, uniting the most prominent logistics experts. TECHLOG Innovation at Barcelona SIL - International Logistics Conference

Beirut Chamber of Commerce organized a two-day workshop for policymakers within the EU funded project INTERNISA . Workshops were held on May 22nd and 23rd, 2023, and brought together public sector employees, NGO representatives, and private sector institutions.

The primary focus of the workshop was to address the objectives of the INTERNISA project, which aimed to enhance the digital skills of young women and increase female employment by bridging the gap between labor market supply and demand. Distinguished speakers, renowned for their academic and administrative expertise, actively participated in the workshop, contributing to its overall success. Each expert, in their respective fields, shed light on various aspects of the project and its broader societal impact, with a particular emphasis on its effects on women.

During the workshop, the attendees also discussed strategies for leveraging and developing the project to ensure its long-term sustainability. All participants expressed their agreement on the significance of the INTERNISA project and its alignment with the goals of their respective organizations and institutions. They recognized the potential for collaboration and networking among themselves to strengthen their collective efforts in supporting the project and capitalizing on its numerous outcomes.

Particular attention was given to the digital platform created by the project, which serves as a hub for connecting employers with female job seekers. Additionally, it provides a wide range of information sources and free training courses on digitalization, occupations, and the labor market. The platform was widely regarded as a valuable tool for facilitating employment opportunities and empowering women in the digital sphere.

Insights and feedback of participants would represent a key component of final recommendations of sustainability plan of Internisa.

شقير يرحب بقرار البحرين إستئناف

التمثيل الدبلوماسي على مستوى السفراء مع لبنان

أصدر رئيس الهيئات الإقتصادية الوزير السابق محمد شقير بياناً رحب فيه بقرار مملكة البحرين إستئناف التمثيل الدبلوماسي على مستوى السفراء مع لبنان.

وأشاد شقير بالقرار معتبراً إياه خطوة في غاية الأهمية لإعادة العلاقات الى طبيعتها بين البلدين الشقيقين، ومؤشراً هاماً لتعافي علاقة لبنان مع كل الدول الخليجية الشقيقة.

وأكد شقير في بيانه عمق العلاقات التاريخية والأخوية مع الدول الخليجية التي تعتبر ركيزة الإستقرار الإجتماعي والإزدهار الإقتصادي للبنان، مشدداً في الوقت نفسه على ضرورة أن تقوم القوى السياسية في لبنان بواجباتها ومسؤولياتها لجهة إنتخاب رئيس للجمهورية وتشكيل حكومة جديدة تكون من ضمن أولوياتها والى جانب تنفيذ الإصلاحات والإتفاق مع صندوق النقد وإقرار خطة تعافي إقتصادي ومالي موثوقة وعادلة، إتخاذ كل الخطوات المناسبة التي من شأنها إعادة العلاقات مع الدول الخليجية الى طبيعتها.

وختم شقير بيانه بتوجيه الشكر للبحرين ملكاً وشعباً على وقوفها الدائم الى جانب لبنان وعلى احتضانها جالية كبيرة من اللبنانيين.

CALL FOR CAREER ADVISOR EXPORT , YEP MED PROJECT

During the IHERITAGE 5th steering committee in Lebanon, the consortium partners from Italy, Spain, Portugal, Egypt, Jordan, and Lebanon visited the UNESCO heritage site of Byblos to explore potential locations for their pilot AR VR innovative projects. 
 
The Beirut Chamber organized the site visit on the second day of the meetings, where Dr. Rachid Chmaoun, Director of LAU Louis Cardahi Foundation, and archaeologist Julien Chanteau welcomed the delegation in presence of Director General of Beirut Chamber, Rabih Sabra, and the Head of Development Projects, Hana Nehme. The Experts provided a presentation on the historical significance of Byblos and showed the sites where the AR VR products would be developed for public use as part of the project activities. 
 
Finally, a large festival and artistic show is planned to be held at Byblos marina by Beirut Chamber in August 2023, which will provide an immersive and fascinating experience showcasing the history of this UNESCO city.

IHERITAGE Partners Explore Byblos for Pilot AR VR Projects and Immersive History Experience

Beirut Chamber hosts the 5th&nbsp;Steering Committee meeting of the EU funded project iHeritage

Organised by the chamber of Beirut and Mount Lebanon, partner in the project, the 8th&nbsp;steering committee meeting of the EU funded project iHeritage took place in Beirut on 27 and 28 April, 2023 at Gefinor Rotana Hotel.

The meetings brought together the consortium partners from Italy, Spain, Portugal, Jordan, Egypt and Lebanon as well as the Joint Technical Secretariat, Lebanese representatives of the Directorate of General Antiquities, National Contact Point for ENI Program in Lebanon, academic and research centers, ICT, innovation and AR VR experts.

Mr. Rabih Sabra, Director General of Beirut Chamber welcomed the partners and shed lights on the Chamber leading role in ENI projects since decades. He emphasized on the uniqueness of the innovative IHeritage project which will develop and put in place for the first time in Lebanon pioneering AR VR products combining heritage and ICT features.&nbsp; Speakers from the opening session Dr. Daniela Segreto, representative of lead beneficiary Sicilian Region Department of Tourism, and Dr. Khaled El Saadany, Senior Expert at JTS ENI CBC MED Program.

Moderated by Mrs. Hana Nehme, Head of Development Projects at Beirut Chamber, the steering committee sessions explored over the two days by the Lead beneficiary and partners the various working packages progress status, particularly, financial management, living labs, research agreements, innovation AR VR products, spin off subgrants scheme, along with the planning for commercialization of innovative products and final events.

Dr. Daniel Asmar, iHeritage consultant presented Beirut Chamber action plan to implement the researches agreements and AR VR products which would be applied mainly on Byblos UNESCO cultural heritage. The meetings were followed by a group visit to Byblos site where the IART artistic and digital festival event will take place by September 2023.

The two days meetings were concluded by a dinner at the front water of Beirut Marina bay on the honor of partners and guests.

IHeritage , ICT Mediterranean platform for UNESCO cultural heritage is a co-financed project by the European commission, for a budget of 3.8 million euros. The project started in September 2020 and will finish In October 2023. iHeritage will provide new solutions through an innovation-driven growth process to promote cross-border technological transfer, Living Labs, industry-academia collaboration and the creation of spin-offs and new products, using the latest Information and Communication Technologies (ICT): Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR) and Mixed Reality (MR). iHERITAGE will contribute to the establishment of the Regional Centre for Safeguarding and Valorisation of Mediterranean Intangible Cultural Heritage, to be recognized under Category 2 of UNESCO.

مواقف صارمة للهيئات الإقتصادية خلال إجتماع طارئ تتصدى من خلالها

لمحاولة زيادة بدل النقل ورفع الدولار الجمركي وكلفة إشتراكات الكهرباء المرتفعة

عقدت الهيئات الإقتصادية إجتماعاً طارئاً برئاسة رئيسها الوزير السابق محمد شقير وبحضور الأعضاء اليوم في مقر غرفة بيروت وجبل لبنان، وناقشت خلاله التداعيات السلبية لعدد من التوجهات والإجراءات الرسمية على القطاع الخاص والإقتصاد الوطني، ومنها على سبيل المثال لا الحصر، زيادة بدل النقل اليومي، قيمة إشتراكات العدادات لدى مؤسسة كهرباء لبنان ورفع الدولار الجمركي.

وبعد نقاش مطول، أعلنت الهيئات الإقتصادية في بيان اصدرته بعد الإجتماع الآتي:

أولاً: رفضها المطلق كل ما يتم تداوله حول زيادة بدل النقل اليومي الى 450 ألف ليرة للعاملين في القطاع الخاص، مؤكدة أن زيادة بدل النقل اليومي الذي تم إقرارها في إجتماع لجنة المؤشر الاخير وإعتماد 250 ألف ليرة يومياً هو بدل عادل ويلبي مطلبات الإنتقال الى العمل.

وذكرت الهيئات الإقتصادية في هذا الصدد، أنها هي أول من بادر الى إقتراح زيادة بدل النقل اليومي إستجابةً لمتطلبات انتقال العمال الى العمل، مشيرة الى أن سلة الزيادات على الأجور والتقديمات (إستشفاء منح التعليم وغيرها) التي تم إقرارها للعمال والموظفين في القطاع الخاص في الفترة الماضية هي مستدامة وليست آنية وأكبر بكثير مما تم إعطاؤه للقطاع العام. كما أنها الزيادات على الأجور تدخل في صلب الراتب خلافاً لما هو معمول به في القطاع العام.

ثانياً: بالنسبة لزيادة الدولار الجمركي، طالبت الهيئات الإقتصادية وبإلحاح بعدم زيادة الدولار الجمركي الى ما يوازي دولار منصة صيرفة، والتوقف عند سقف الـ60 ألف ليرة، لإعطاء الوقت الكافي لدراسة أثر زيادة الدولار الجمركي من 45 ألف ليرة الى 60 ألف ليرة ومن ثم النظر في إمكانية زيادته مرة جديدة بعد أقل من 15 يوماً.

وفي هذا الإطار، أكدت الهيئات الإقتصادية تفهمها لحاجات الدولة التمويلية، لكنها في الوقت نفسه حذرت من أن إستسهال تأمين الإيرادات عبر زيادة الدولار الجمركي سيكون له تداعيات إجتماعية وحياتية خطرة وإخلالات إقتصادية لا تحمد عقباها، مشيرة الى ابواب أخرى يمكن اللجوء اليها ومنها مكافحة الإقتصاد غير الشرعي الذي بات يشكل أكثر من 50 في المئة من حجم الإقتصاد الوطني.

ثالثاً: بالنسبة لإشتراكات عدادات الكهرباء لدى مؤسسة كهرباء لبنان، أكدت الهيئات الإقتصادية في بيانها إن هذه الإشتراكات ظالمة وغير عادلة وتلحق الأذى الكبير بالمواطنين وبالمؤسسات الخاصة على إختلافها صناعية كانت أم سياحية وتجارية وخدماتية.

وقالت الهيئات في هذا الإطار، من المعيب أن تعمل مؤسسة كهرباء لبنان على تأمين ايرادات عبر فرض رسوم ثابتة مرتفعة جداً وتفوق كثيراً حجم الإستهلاك، وكأنها تريد بذلك إستغلال المواطنين بتأمين إيرادات لها حتى من دون توفير الكهرباء لهم، مطالبةً بالعودة السريعة عن جدول الإشتراكات الجديد والإعتماد بشكل أساسي على إستهلاك الكهرباء لزيادة إيراداتها، مقترحة ربط التكاليف الثابتة بشكل نسبي بساعات التغذية، خصوصاً إن الإجراءات المعتمدة تجبر المواطنين والمؤسسات قصراً للتخلي عن عداداتهم ملحقة بهم خسائر فادحة.

رابعاً: ختمت الهيئات الإقتصادية بيانها بالتعبير عن قلقها الشديد من ان يؤدي تمادي بعض الوزارات والإدارات العامة بإتخاذ القرارات والإجراءات العشوائية والمجتزأة وغير المدروسة الى كوارث يحصدها المجتمع اللبناني في المستقبل.

وأعلنت الهيئات الإقتصادية أنها شكلت فريق عمل لإعداد دراسات واضحة حول المواضيع المطروحة وغيرها من المواضيع الحيوية لإقتراح الحلول حولها وإطلاع الرأي العام عليها ومتابعتها مع الجهات المعنيىة وإتخاذ المواقف المناسبة منها.

وأعلنت الهيئات الإقتصادية أنها شكلت فريق عمل لإعداد دراسات واضحة حول المواضيع المطروحة وغيرها من المواضيع الحيوية لإقتراح الحلول حولها وإطلاع الرأي العام عليها ومتابعتها مع الجهات المعنيىة وإتخاذ المواقف المناسبة منها.

<h2>3D Graphic Designer Expert Role 
The Expert Tasks f Expert assigned to the IHERITAGE to: 
&minus; Support the developers of AR VR products through delivering Creative and technical input for 3D modeling &amp; texturing. 
&minus; Technical files handling, extraction and conversion Consultancy for maquette visual direction . 
&minus; The Expert will deliver strategic consultancy for concept creation and overall experience outputs 
 
Budget Maximum 20.000 euros 
Period of assignment : May 15, 2023 -September 30, 2023 
 
All submissions (curriculum vitae, references and expression of interest letter, and other materials useful for the evaluation) must be consistent with the TOR and should arrive no later than 12 pm, Beirut Time May 8th, 2023 by email to: hr@ccib.org.lb ;it@ccib.org.lb
